Why does my device stop working because of water/liquid damage?
In short liquid has the potential to short circuit electrical components and can also cause corrosion on areas of your device which can block connectivity. Fortunately we have a high success rate of reversing these problems!
What does the $29.99 Water Damage Diagnostic Fee Cover?
As the title states, we will receive your device and diagnose which parts have liquid damage. We will then be able to determine exactly what parts of your device are damaged and can charge you accordingly. Because not every water damage device has the same problems we do not believe that a flat fee is fair to the customer. If a disassembly of your device, and a thorough ultrasonic cleaning is able to fix your device you will be charged $69.99 - $129.99 for the service ($29.99 for the Diagnostic & $40-$80 for the Cleaning) (Read more below).
I heard ocean water damage isn't even worth sending in. Is this true?
Absolutely Not! While salt water is extremely corrosive we still have successfully repaired devices with ocean water damage. Our success rate is lower than those damaged from fresh water, however it's still worth it to send in for a Water Damage Repair Diagnostic.
Will putting my device in Rice solve my issue?
While this is a very popular method for trying to repair water damaged devices, it only partially removes the liquid from the device. It will not take away any corrosion that has formed on the components. Corrosion is what makes your phone stop working. That is why it is still a good idea to send it in so that you don't have problems later down the road. We have seen water damage devices dry out and work fine for a month only to have certain functions begin to fail again. Our state of the art ultrasonic cleaning system is the best way to remove corrosion from your device safely and effectively.
What is your method for repairing water damaged devices?
We don't want to reveal all of our secrets but we'll let you know the basics! When we receive your device it will be completely stripped down so that any part(s) exposed to liquid can be inspected for corrosion. We then give your parts an ultrasonic bath with our special solution to remove the corrosion and excess dirt & mositure. We then begin testing which part(s) were damage by liquid. Once we know what components (if any) need to be replaced we will call you with a repair quote.
What kind of cost am I looking at to repair my device?
Not all liquid damaged devices are created equal and neither are their prices. The cost of parts varies between each type of model that we offer repairs for. If your device requires a disassembly, and ultrasonic cleaning you would be looking at a cost of $69.99 - $129.99 (29.99 for the diagnostic and $40 - 80 for the ultrasonic cleaning). If new parts or a logic board are required, your quote will go up.
Do I have to follow through with the repair after I receive the quote?
We understand that not everyone wants to spend tons of money to get their phone or device repaired. If your device requires a dissasembly and ultrasonic cleaning with no additional parts needed for the repair you cannot refuse the service and you WILL have to pay the $69.99 - $129.99 fee ($29.99 for the diagnostic & $40 - $80 for the ultrasonic cleaning). If your phone requires additional parts you can choose to decline or accept the repair quote. If you decline the quote you will only be charged the $29.99 diagnostic fee.
What if you are unable to repair my device?
If we are unable to repair your device because of severe damage to internal components or if there is damage to the logic board then you will only be liable for the $29.99 diagnostic charge. We will either return your device to you or we may offer to purchase the salvageable parts from you and recycle the rest of the device.
Will there be data loss on my device?
As long as the Logic Board (the part that stores all the information) is not damaged we have a 99% chance of retrieving the data from your device.
What do you do with the broken parts that you replace?
We recycle all broken parts with local electronic recycling firms to help the environment (read more about it in Our Foundation page). If you would like to receive any of the parts that we replace, simply request it while ordering and we will gladly send you back the damaged parts.
What if I get my device back worse than it was before?
This will NEVER happen. We have been in the repair business for over 4 years and we have a plethora of experience. All repaired units are rigorously tested and go through our QC (Quality Control) Department to ensure that everything is in working order before we return your device to you.
What all do I need to send in to you?
The only thing that we require is your broken device and battery. Make sure the two are separated (you should always remove the battery after the phone comes in contact with liquid or moisture). Do not send any external cases, cables, or accessories. Please remove the Sim And/Or Memory card from the device. Please include the confirmation page emailed to you once you have purchased the repair. If you do not have access to a printer, please make sure your Name, Address, Symptoms and Order Number are included in the box you ship your device in. This helps us keep track of your device and allows for a faster and more convenient service.
Will you download anything off of my device?
Absolutely not! We respect the privacy of the content on your device. We will never download any information, including: contacts, pictures, music or data. If you decide to lock your device please be aware that it will limit our ability to test certain functions on your device that may include camera, signal antenna, and headphone jack. Please include any passwords or pattern locks when you send in your device so we can properly diagnose it. Please read our Privacy Policy for more additional information.
I don’t feel comfortable paying on the website. Do I have any other options?
